Directed by Jenni Bregman, Intimate City is a contemporary dance performance that will explore how we interact in small or crowded spaces in urban life. This project will be created through the Resident Artist Workshop (RAW) at The Garage.
Jenni is seeking 8 dancers, male or female, for a collaborative process that will ask dancers to bring technical and emotional content to choreography and creativity and fearlessness to partnering.
Dancers should have a technical foundation in modern, jazz or ballet, and the ability to move with gooey fluidity, articulate the spine and combine dancer and pedestrian qualities in performance. Experience with partnering will be required for some but not all of the cast.
Rehearsals begin August 2. There will be a preview September 24 & 25 and a show November 17 & 18. Rehearsals will be up to two times per week on either Monday, Tuesday or Friday days, and occasionally Monday or Thursday nights. Rehearsals/performances are not paid. Contact Jenni at jennibean@gmail.com with any questions about the audition or piece.
Artistic Director Jenni Bregman has been dancing in the Bay Area since 1999. She performs with Printz Dance Project and teaches Contemporary Jazz at LINES Dance Center, Shawl-Anderson Dance Center and RoCo Dance and Fitness. Her choreography has been seen in local showcases and theater productions, onstage with a rock band and on video.
