Keep an eye out for who’s coming to the Dance Commons!Christine CaliMondays and WednesdaysNovember 5 - December 17, 201210am - 11:30amChristine Cali’s advance/professional level movement classes are open to advanced dancers from all genres. These classes will focus on developing your state of presence and physical prowess. Beginning with somatic based movement exercises to awaken and integrate the body, we will explore what your body already knows progressing into fully realized expression of movement based on Cali’s 15 years of practice with pioneers and great teachers of modern dance. Cali has honed her own intellectual and somatic ideas of the functional and sensorial and has evolved these ideas beyond her experiences as a student of such practices. She will share this highly evolved body knowledge she is currently calling ‘plugging-in’, focusing on greater awareness/integrity in the bodymind. Cali’s desire as a teacher is to inspire dancers to continually fulfill their creative movement potential and transcend beyond their current proficiencies in dance. Rigorous movement explorations will be implemented through phrase-work, improvisation and mobile alignment techniques (“plugging-in”). We will soar and fly; awakening the body, mind and spirit; leading to articulately-curious, full-bodied and dynamic dancing!Christine Cali comes from an extremely athletic background turned creative, which lead her to dancing.
