Gil Chun's students from around the Bay Area will perform Tap, Jazz, Hula, Chinese, and Japanese dances for family, friends and the community.

Gil Chun has had extensive training and professional experience in tap dancing and ballroom dancing, as well as classical ballet. He has danced with various professional ballet companies and several musical comedy groups.

In addition to teaching full time and choreographing extensively Gil Chun is the artistic director for several Bay Area dance troupes: the GIL CHUN DANCE COMPANY, the HIGHSTEPPIN’ HAPPY TAPPERS, SAN FRANCISCO JAPANTOWN HAPPY TAPPERS, OAKLAND OFF BROADWAY TAPPERS and BERKELEY TAPHAPEEZ. These groups are composed primarily of retired senior citizens who are studying jazz, hula and tap.

These dance troupes have performed throughout the Bay Area at events such as the CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL, BAY AREA FOLLIES, Stanford University’s EXTRAVAGANZA, NIHONMACHI STREET FAIR, SANSEI LIVE, SAN FRANCISCO CHINATOWN MOONFESTIVAL AND CHINESE NEW YEAR FESTIVAL, J-TOWN REVUE, AARP and TAP JAMBOREE. Under his leadership as artistic director, the GIL CHUN DANCE COMPANY has performed at the Herbst Theatre and other important venues in San Francisco for close to ten years.   Mr.Chun's latest production was presented at the Novellus Theater, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco.

One of Mr. Chun’s goals is to encourage young talent. Many of his younger students have gone on to professional careers in the world of dance.

Gil Chun has recently begun performing as a vocal artist for which he has received numerous favorable reviews.
