Katharine Hawthorne presents ClockWork, featuring the San Francisco premiere of Pulse and a restaging of The
Escapement in collaboration with lighting designer David Robertson. Known for her athletic and intelligent choreography, Hawthorne combines dual passions for art and science to uncover our everyday interactions with technology. Pulse amplifies dancer heartbeats for a visceral experience of time. The Escapement tracks timekeeping from sundials through the atomic clock, probing the connection between technology and our perception of time.

Katharine Hawthorne is a San Francisco based dancer and choreographer who makes live performances about thinking
bodies in motion. www.khawthorne.net

Funding Credits: These performances have been made possible by the Rainin Opportunity Fund at ODC Theater, the
Zellerbach Family Foundation, the Dancers’ Group Lighting Artists in Dance Award, the Emerging Choreographers Project at Springboard Danse Montréal, and generous individual donors.  Katharine Hawthorne is a fiscally sponsored project of Dancers' Group.
