ODC Theater & School present Pilot’s 60th Season Sat, March 31 at 8pm and Sun, April 1 at 7pm, 2012 ODC Dance Commons, Studio B
ODC celebrates its sixtieth production of Pilot with a diverse bill of innovative contemporary work by six promising dance artists. We invite you to join us on March 31st and April 1st for our presentation of Pilot 60.
Pilot 60 showcases an ecclectic bill of exciting new dance by six local artists: Alison Williams, a student of dance and somatics, uses the game mechanics of an iPad application to create the movement and sound score of her work. Samantha Giron debuts Aperture, a Contemporary meets street dance, father/daughter collaboration. This oral history focuses on a Hispanic American experience and the impacts and causes of breaking from tradition. A choreographer influenced by narrative, Milissa Payne Bradley offers two duets that tell a multilayered story of love and loss. David Schleiffers presents a physically demanding work exploring themes of acceptance, love, and intimacy. Lisa Fagan makes a dance that creates noise amplified by “hyperquiet” and movement augmented by the slow build of curiosity and tension. Through the resistance of partnering Claudia Anata Hubiak questions the human instinct to escape from closeness.
Through the collaborative nature of this eleven-week curriculum, choreographers have the opportunity to experiment while receiving feedback and support, resulting an evening of dynamic work that reflects the strength of a program in its 60th season.
